LANDLORD FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How is eligibility for Direct Temporary Housing determined?

Families must first meet the general eligibility requirements for Individual Assistance to be considered for Direct Temporary Housing and their primary residence must be in a county authorized for Direct Temporary Housing. Pre-disaster homeowners with a verified loss of $17,000 or more may be eligible, along with pre-disaster renters whose residences have been determined by insurance assessor to have received major damage or have been destroyed.

What accommodations are eligible for future applicants?

Any current rental home, apartment, or hotel that offers month-to-month or short-term leases are eligible options for selection.

Is the program experiencing a delay in mail operations due to COVID-19?

As you may have already experienced, we utilize the USPS system to aid us in the process of document exchange with our applicants. Please note that, as also shared in news outlets, USPS products and packing may require more time to be delivered due to limited transportation availability as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 impacts. As a result, we are likewise impacted and are therefore experiencing delays in our USPS mail operations as well. If you chose to use USPS, we ask for your patience as we safely work to process your application and documents.

Will Arrow ALE notify the landlord is an extension is needed?

All leases are negotiated as a month-to-month to short term period with a 30-day move-out/extension notice provision. Arrow ALE will contact you in writing and by phone 45 days prior to the end of the lease so that you will have sufficient time to be informed if the lease needs to be ended or extended.

Who will handle the utility connections?

This responsibility falls under the future tenant, if the services are not included in the monthly rental amount.

When will tenants move into temporary housing units?

While there is no specific timeline for a survivor to occupy a housing unit after their eligibility is determined, Arrow ALE and the insurance companies are always making every effort to work through the process as quickly as possible.
